Saw the documentary twice in NYC during the Tribeca Film Festival. For anybody who loves music, Bon Jovi fan or not, you should see this film. Its an honest, unpolished view of the good and bad of being one of the biggest rock bands in history. Enjoy!

In 1987, when I was in 3rd grade, my reading group, when asked to choose a name, chose “Bon Jovi.”. Our teacher let us keep it!

I have been a fan of this band for about 16 years now. Over these years, I went through my parents divorce, puberty, high school, a wedding, and lots of other things. Whenever I was going through a rough patch, all I would have to do is put on one of their albums. By the 3rd or 4th song, (6th if it was really bad) I would always have a smile on my face. I have even been lucky enough to attend the last 2 tours that they played in Omaha, NE. I can only say that their performance KICKED MY A$$.

I am a 59 year old female, married for 22 years, a hard working factory worker. Have loved Bon Jovi since he came out. All 4 of my kids and grandkids love him. And my son in laws and daughter in laws. Working on the three great -grandkids. My recently deceased baby sister and I loved to rock out to him. My brother in law and my husband would tease us about how jealous they were and were going to beat him up. Jon is young enough to be my son, and he is so real and down to earth, and his music is just what I need. And I love what he stands for and he puts it in his music. Thank you Jon Bon Jovi and the band. From your adopted Mother. Janice Wilson, Lafayette, IN

Because the songs speak to what we all go thru and are inspiring and hopeful…and because Jon smiled at me (I was in the 6th row) during the Philly concert, 3/3/08…..hey, it made my day!

@Janice – If it makes you feel any better, Jon’s 47 and Richie Sambora turned 50 this summer. OK, so one of them is aging A LOT better than the other, but still, you’re not so old is my point.
I own the first 3 albums (!) on vinyl. 1st concert: Bon Jovi/ Cinderella, 4/2/87, Philadelphia Spectrum. Still see them at least once every tour, no questions asked, because their shows are worth every penny. (Freakgirl can attest to this.) Still giggle at Jon’s “height” 5′10″, even though I’ve stood 15 feet from him and know for a fact he’s Hollywood 5′10″, aka 5′7″. Still think Eva Herzigova’s a skanky whore for cheating on Tico Torres w/ Leo DiCaprio. Still love Richie as much as I did when I was 13, because the man is a PHENOMENALLY talented guitarist and singer. OK, that’s enough.

Why does Bon Jovi make me want to flick my Bic?
Because their music is amazing. The Bic-flicking tracks like Never Say Goodbye, Always, Bitter Wine, I’ll Be There For You, (It’s Hard) Letting You Go, Dry County… (how many characters do I get?) move me in a way that other so-called power ballads don’t. Chalk it up to being a child of the 80’s, and growing up with these songs as THE soundtrack to my memories (uh, hello, Senior Prom 1987 — NSG — need I say more?)
There are so many things I admire about this band…
… The fact that they’re not afraid to reach outside their comfort zone (TLFR) and not give a rat’s patootie what the critics say.
… The fact that the members of the band have other interests besides “being in Bon Jovi”. Have you SEEN Tico’s art? Laughed your butt off at Toxie? Enjoyed Richie’s line of guitars and solo career? Watched any of Jon’s movies?
… The fact that they GIVE BACK when they don’t have to. If you look in Wikipedia under “philanthropy” I think there’s a JonBon photo somewhere on the page. The money that the Tico Torres Golf Classic raises, the events Richie does for the Midnight Mission, the work David does for Only Make Believe, Save The Music, Music for All… come ON!
… The fact that they’re all great dads, and love and protect their kids
Bon Jovi is so much more than just “a hair-band from the 80’s who is still making music”. They are real men with real families, real problems, and a real talent for making me smile. They inspire me in so many ways (some family friendly, some not lol) and have led me to meet so many wonderful people through a joint love of this band that I wouldn’t otherwise know.
When I flick my Bic, it isn’t just because the tune demands it.
It’s in celebration of the wonderful things the band does, on and off the stage.
It’s in celebration of the myriad of emotions they can evoke and emote with just a fingertip or a long-held note.
It’s in celebration of the fellow members of the Sisterhood of the Brotherhood who have joined my extended family.
It’s in celebration of the joy that is, and God willing, will for many more years be, Bon Jovi.

Thet’re music is the best and I love the way they write, like they’re telling a story. I wish I could write like that. I’ve loved them from the first time I ever heard about them, 20 some odd years ago. They ROCK!!!! And the band the critics didn’t have much hope for, well let me tell you they didn’t know what they were talking about. The band has the best fans too. We know their life stories(in fact I think we know too much), but it’s all good. And I hope Bon Jovi keeps on a rocking for another 20 some years.

Why does Bon Jovi want to make me flick by Bic? Bon Jovi is awesome and cool. Their music rocks me and every Bon Jovi fan out there. When I am feeling bad, Bon Jovi’s music picks me right up and move on. I have been a Bon Jovi fan since 1983 when they started out. I love Bon Jovi Forever. Keep on rockin the world Jon, Ritchie, David, and Tico. Bon Jovi are good hometown boys from New Jersey. Bon Jovi’s songs are classical, romantic, passionate, happy, and sad. Their music is as if you were away for a long time and you came home. Their music is comfort food for the soul.
Bon Jovi is real, hardworking, and inspirational band. They don’t give up and the guys give back with their charity work. Bon Jovi makes beautiful music together and they sing about what is real in life. Their songs tell a story. The songs that always get to me on an emotional level are: You Want To Make A Memory, Thank you For Loving Me, Always, I’ll Be There For You, Bed of Roses, Born To Be My Baby, Never Say Goodbye, I’d Die For You, It’s Hard Letting You Go, You Had Me From Hello, All About Lovin You, and Without Love. Their songs are amazing and wonderful.
Bon Jovi are real guys, with real problems with real families and real talent. Jon with his movie films, Tico with his art ( I have his poster It’s A Matter of Class-awesome ), David with his musicals Toxie and Memphis, and Ritchie with his fabulous guitar playing and his solo career. They are loving fathers to their children.

Bon Jovi is REAL. You can tell by the eyes. I turned my friend onto Bon Jovi years ago and she just adores him. My friend is 76 years old and beautiful.

This band is a role model for every single band out there. After 26 years they are “still standing” and making number one rock songs that will never be forgotten. They are “wanted dead or alive” and they are surely not “livin on a prayer.” Some of my friends tell me that they are getting old but i just say hey they not old! “just older!” and “its my life” so i can listen to whatever i want! Bon jovi will “always” be one of the best, if not the best rock band ever! So Im going to bounce and i hope every one has “A NICE DAY!”

I first did aerobics to Livin’ on a Prayer way back in 1988 and was so in love with this song. Maybe in love with doing aerobics to this song. Bon Jovi has been one of my all time favorite groups for 20 some years, not just Jon but the whole group is what makes them so unique. I would say that Lost Highway is one of my favorite albums today, probably because I’ve mellowed out a little just like them. They sure put on one of the best concerts of any band I have ever seen. I went to 4 of their concerts in 2008 and plan to do the same in 2010…cannot wait! Lois

Bon Jovi makes me want to flick a lighter because they have THE best 80s sound! (They were my best friend’s and my favorite band! We’d play “Wanted” and “Livin’” over and over again…

I discovered Bon Jovi on June 19, 2007 when they were on THE TODAY SHOW at the start of the LOST HIGHWAY TOUR. Now, I’m completely obsessed! The 2 concerts I’ve seen since then have more than amazed me to see how Jon can connect with his audience. What’s so remarkable is all the positive press Jon gets, both personaly and professionaly. There aren’t many HEROS around anymore for kids to “look up to” . . . I’m 60 years old and certainly admire that he puts action behind his words and lyrics. He most definitely “WASN’T BORN TO FOLLOW ! ! ! “

BEEN A BIG BON JOVI FAN SINCE HIGH SCHOOL DAYS. MY KIDS LOVE HIS MUSIC TOO. I LOVED WATCHING THE SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE SCENE WITH BON JOVI COMING OUT OF THE MIRROR SINGING WITH HIS BIG HAIR.
