There are just so many holes in the concept and the characters are all so ambiguous, there's nothing much to invest in. I love ED, but even she is, by the conceit of the show, too vague a character to really root for hard-core. It's all right, and individual episodes are entertaining but overall, it's definitely no Buffy or Firefly. Yeah, I have to agree — I don’t know that this premise can be sustained long-term. And I suppose if he were ever not available, they could just say Alpha put himself in a new body. But that would be a disappointment. Overall, I enjoyed the episode, but think you're right about the anti-climactic ending. I just assume it was the result of some hasty editing once the network decided not to air "Epitaph".
