Who Moved My Cheese?

The new season of The Amazing Race is here! If you had told me a few days ago that a task involving carrying a wheel of cheese would turn out to be one of the most brutal challenges TAR has ever done — I would have laughed in your face.
Let’s take a look at our teams!

Amanda & Chris: Honestly, I remember nothing about these two except that I got excited when I heard her name was Amanda, because that means that Phil will be calling her “Amander” and I love that.

Brad & Victoria: Our resident “older couple.” They seem fit and capable. Someone was whining about them lying or something…whatever.

Cara & Jaime: Cheerleaders, best buds and apparent twins.

Christie & Jodi: Flight attendants who may have a leg up when it comes to airport travel. But on the ground, they got lost a couple of times, managing to make it to the mat just ahead of last place.

Jennifer & Preston: These two were our first eliminated team and I was happy to see them go. I didn’t like Preston from the beginning. The way he talked to her was upsetting. Also, Jennifer, what kind of person has never been to a train station?

LaKisha & Jennifer: I haven’t gotten a sense of these two yet. They seemed okay, though, right? I do love seeing a strong female team.

Linda & Steve: Our resident self-described hillbillies. She cries a lot (A LOT) and he seems like he could be an asshole at times. I root for them, though, because I love seeing the world through the eyes of people who have never traveled before.

Margie & Luke: This season’s Team Motherboy. I love them both. I can’t wait to watch them progress through the Race, and I loved that Luke got so emotional when they won the first leg. I also got emotional when Phil signed, “You are team number ONE!”

Mark & Michael: Brothers and stuntmen. These guys seem to have a great attitude. I liked them a lot.

Mel & Mike: Obviously the team I’m rooting for the most (along with Team Motherboy). In case you were wondering, the “Yeast Lords” hat Mike was wearing is in reference to his latest movie. NOT a celebrity gynecological clinic, Lisa.

Tammy & Victor: A brother/sister lawyer/lawyer team who seem to be pretty pleased with themselves. Hoping they’ll be fun and not annoying.
So there you have it! I was really happy with the premiere. I noticed new graphics, and we’ve been told that there will be less boring airport drama and more travel porn. Bring it on, Phil!

I really enjoyed the premiere and I’m looking forward to an invigorated race! Boy, I would have sucked on those tasks, the bungi looked terrifying and that hill! With the heavy cheese! And the breakable backpacks! I couldn’t believe it. I really like the stunt brothers and the father/son. Hate the hillbillies, because – I just hate hillbillies.

I really appreciated the split screens and “real time” timestamps. Yay, TAR for playing to the fans.
Also, why go on the Amazing Race if you can’t at least run a little? I never understand that.

nora, me neither. I’m no runner — far from it — but I hope I’d do some endurance training to go on TAR. At least to know I could sprint if I had to. I was wondering if Linda smokes. She just looked so winded.
And I couldn’t believe that Preston was CARRYING Jennifer to the mat.

Yeah, when you need a piggy back ride during a footrace to the mat, it’s time to go. Suck it up and run, sister. I also had the feeling that Jennifer did NOTHING on the cheese task, so… buh-bye.
You’re a better person than me, freakgirl, because I can’t stand the crying hillbilly. And we get more blubbering next week – oh joy!
That Tammy and Victor team reminds me so much of a team a few seasons back, Hendekia & Azaria.

Jack, the crying hillbilly was completely on my nerves. Suck it up, woman! YOU ARE ON TELEVISION.
But like I said, I enjoy watching people step out of their comfort zones. Probably because I rarely do. However, if I ever do, I hope to do it with less crying than Linda.

I never ever thought that watching people carry cheese could be so hysterical. I loved it! That cheese sure could roll fast too.

I was seriously terrified that the cheese was going to hurt someone!

I always love the shots of locals laughing at our fools. And the music they had playing were classic.
I wasn’t feeling Team Hillbilly until she got excited about Phil’s eyebrow pop.

Apparently they beat Christie & Jodi to the Pit Stop, but they didn’t have enough money to pay their cab, so they couldn’t check in. Which I guess is why they weren’t trying that hard (i.e. Preston carrying Jennifer) to get to the Mat.

Hello, you are applying for the Amazing Race…why not try to run around the block a few times just in case they pick you? This is such a physical competition! I’m not trying to say that everyone should be an athlete, but in the same way you’d try to learn to drive a stick or get familiar with online flight research, you might want to get a bit of physical training in there, too.
I was thinking about my mom, who is a very strong woman when it comes to the kind of work she’s always done in a factory, and at home, and gardening, and kneading and baking bread, etc. She’s so much more capable than I am in these regards, her hands are incredibly strong! But she has no endurance skills and would be wiped out if she ran to the mailbox down the street.

I loved the premiere. This definitely seems like a great group they’ve chosen this season. Probably the best group yet. Doesn’t look like a total snoozefest like the cast of LAST season (which I refrained from posting here about since everyone seemed to be slobbering over the boring-as-shit winners).
I’m rooting for Margie & Luke, Tammy & Victor, Jaime & Cara, and Christie & Jodi the most as of right now.

If you plan on referring to the commenters here as “slobbering,” you might want to refrain from posting altogether. Please be polite or you’ll be bounced.
