Carla and her eyes and her “Help me Jesus!” outbursts still annoy the F out of me, and I maintain that Jeff and Jamie are closer to what Top Chef should be, but this was the best possible outcome from this episode. I was scared to death that this would be Stefan’s almost-first and last mistake.
Glad to see Fabio get a totally non-Top-Pussy win though and go into the finale with some confidence. (And a mo/faux-hawk, apparently.)
I’ve really grown to enjoy Crazy Eyez Carla. My challenge with this season still stands though — I don’t feel like I understand what each chef’s signature cooking style is or how they really think about food…except Carla (and Jamie and her scallops when she was there).
Fabio cooks Italian but what does that mean, really? What is Stefan’s signature style besides knowing how to do just about everything? What does Hosea do besides accidentally kiss other contestants and hate on Stefan?
Jason, Toby sort of addressed your thoughts (which I agree with) in his blog this week:
Once you’ve reached the final, you have to pull out all the stops. So far on this season of Top Chef, Stefan, Carla, and Fabio have survived by cooking well in a fairly safe, conventional way. Hosea has been much more ambitious — and, as a result, he has been among the losers as often as he has among the winners. It will be interesting to see how he fares in the next two episodes and whether the other three can raise their game.
Just thank goodness, I don’t have to see Leah anymore. Hosea might take chances, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t make me like him anymore. I don’t think the editors like him either. It’s either that or else he really is obsessed with Stefan.
I would be happy with a Carla, Stefan, or Fabio win.
This ep tipped me into full Carla love. As a character, anyway. Not sure about the chif part. And she was a model?
Padma should wear that dress all the time. The only time I think she’s been more stunning was when she was all sleepy-eyed at the breakfast Quickfire in some other season.

Interesting thoughts, Jason. Hadn’t thought of it that way, but I agree.
Squab or runny eggs?
Leah cooking your last meal?
Just pizza for me

All I have is this: Padma’s amazing boobs and nips in that dress. Had to say it.

Rereading my comment: mofo hawk? Sure. I mean, is there any other kind?

I could see her being a model. She’s so tall and lean and has an interesting face, to say the least.
I remember that breakfast challenge. Padma looked like she was fresh from her wake-and-bake.
