My guess is that CBS "clarified" Chima's comments so they can say, "See? We addressed it!" after being criticized for cutting Braden's racist rant from the air. However, what they did was frame Chima's remarks so that they DIDN'T look racist -- when (from what I've gathered from the feed recaps) she completely meant to be offensive, going so far as to call him "Osama" and point out that "America hates Middle Easterners." I also read that she begged production not to air her comments. Don't have any idea if that is true, though. It's quite frustrating to watch how CBS chooses to handle things like this. Usually these type of accusations and confrontations are just left out completely. Or am I just imagining things.
