You Gotta Break Some Eggs

Russell continues his Goodwill Tour of the Big Brother 11 House

It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for the Big Brother Veto Competition!

Tonight Kevin cements his reputation as one of the most passive Big Brother contestants ever. He actually steps up and wins the Veto, his first competition ever, and then refuses to use it because he’s afraid of ruffling feathers. Really, Kevin? I’m no fan of Lydia, but I would have been HELLA pissed if I were her.

In other house goings-on, Russell plays pool with Michele in an attempt to win her over after their argument last week. Let’s just say it ends badly. Michele is arguing word choice and lamely saying even though she has a PhD she’s not really that clever, and Russell smartly calls her out on it, but then keeps harassing her to the point where she easily presents herself as the victim to Chima, Jessie and Natalie. Which launches another fight that culminates in Chima labeling Russell a “terrorist” and Russell calling Chima a “racist.” Ugh. They just need to f*ck and get it over with. There, I said it. Also, at some point during this argument you can hear Natalie chime in, and is anyone surprised about that?

Later, Jessie starts (correctly) freaking out that Jeff holds the Coup power. Natalie talks him out of it. Who does Natalie think has it? I think if I were in the house and in danger of being put up, I’d act as if I had it. Would you?

The Veto competition is centered around chickens and eggs, and I was 100% sure Chicken George would be involved. I was wrong. Is he okay? It’s unlike him to not LEAP at any opportunity Big Brother throws at him. Maybe he was on the other side of the wall, begging them to let him in. Anyway, Natalie sucks at this competition, just like she sucks at everything. I guess at age 18 you don’t have the life experience to hold onto eggs through a chickenwire fence.

Long story short, Kevin wins. Lydia is overjoyed, but not for long. He doesn’t want to piss off Chima, so he doesn’t use it.

In a last ditch effort, Russell secretly informs Jessie that the womenfolk are after him. And that Jeff is, too. Jessie runs to Jeff with this information, and it’s widely agreed that Russell is a liar. OH GOD, JEFF, PLEASE USE THE COUP ON THURSDAY. BREAK UP JESSIE AND NATALIE.

Michele is unfortunately and surprisingly inarticulate.

Kevin is a jerk. I can’t believe he didn’t use the veto on his friend! Who exactly is he afraid of offending? Chima? She’s not the queen. She can’t be HoH next week.

I’m figuring that Jeff has been planning to put Jessie and Natalie up there the whole time, but I don’t know if he’s going to actually do it! I hope so. I hope Jessie goes first.

Natalie will go batshit crazy if Jessie leaves tomorrow. How would the votes shake down, you think? The only people that wouldn’t vote would be Jeff and the HOH, right?

Chima apparently said she would go berserk if anyone uses the Coup tomorrow. Please, Jeff, don’t let me down. I don’t even care WHO he puts up, just as long as he uses it and it causes everyone to go nuts.

I thought it was great that Jeff was basically mapping out his plans to use the Coup d’etat for Jordan (and us) last night. Can’t wait to see it happen.

Sadly, I don’t think Chima’s going to do anything, I think it’s all bluster and bravado to try and intimidate Jeff into not using it.

If Jessie leaves, who is Natalie going to attach herself to from here on out?

I also liked how Jessie was offended that Russell didn’t pick him to play in Veto not because he wanted to a chance to save his supposed alliance-mate (he didn’t) but because he wanted to win the ability to be exempt from the coup d’etat. Every episode, I wind up asking myself if he’s for real and then I laugh because I know he is.

I’m trying to anticipate votes for the Jessie/Natalie faceoff:

I can’t peg where Russell, Chima or Michele will vote, but I’m pretty sure Lydia will vote to ditch Natalie and Jordan and Kevin will vote to get rid of Jessie (Kevin thinks Jessie is abusive toward Natalie).

Can anyone see the video I linked to at the top of this post? I can see it in Firefox, but it’s not showing up in IE. Not sure why.

Something else I just thought of: Anyone else notice how the producers went out of their way to clarify what Chima meant by her “Terrorist” comment via the use of flashbacks? Usually these type of accusations and confrontations are just left out completely.

Or am I just imagining things.

You’re not imagining things. My guess is that CBS “clarified” Chima’s comments so they can say, “See? We addressed it!” after being criticized for cutting Braden’s racist rant from the air.

However, what they did was frame Chima’s remarks so that they DIDN’T look racist — when (from what I’ve gathered from the feed recaps) she completely meant to be offensive, going so far as to call him “Osama” and point out that “America hates Middle Easterners.” I also read that she begged production not to air her comments. Don’t have any idea if that is true, though.

It’s quite frustrating to watch how CBS chooses to handle things like this.

From what I’m reading from the live feeds, it looks like TPTB are afraid of Chima (or someone) making a scene tomorrow. They’re asking the studio audience to arrive 3 hours earlier than usual. Pre-taping?

Andy Dehnart confirms that they are pre-taping.

Chima’s hair is making her head too hot. It’s boiling her brains.

It’s going to be a good one tonight! I am looking forward to Chima’s head exploding. So glad I get to enjoy it with freakgirl.

I know. I think one of the biggest issues I have with TO being so far from NJ is that Freakgirl and I can’t watch tv together!
