Crazy Like a Fox…or Dumb as Rocks?

The HoH competition is down to Dan and Ollie, so Dan starts talking deals. He offers to Ollie that he will keep him and Michelle safe. He also offers the right to choose one of the nominees for eviction as well as the right to choose who replaces a nominee should one be Vetoed. The only power as HoH that Dan would keep for himself is the HoH room and the choice of one of the nominees. Ollie jumps down immediately. Dan tells us in DR that the deal is all part of the plan to keep himself looking weak and deflect the responsibility of HoH onto Ollie. Either this is the dumbest plan ever or it’s pure genius, the likes of which I am not worthy. I’m kind of leaning toward dumb.

Up in the HoH room, there’s a t-shirt on the table that says TAKEN in big block letters, presumably from Dan’s girlfriend. I thought it was cute, and Dan put it on right away. Memphis tells the DR that Dan must be on a really short chain in his relationship, because no way in hell would Memphis ever wear a t-shirt that says “taken” on it. Why not, Memphis? Would it impair your abilities to womanize, maybe? Get a freaking sense of humour. Then Dan reads his letter from home, which happens to be from his girlfriend. He tells us in DR that he’s going to choke up to appear EVEN WEAKER and I am just so sick of the weak talk already. Also, I don’t believe him. I think he misses his family a lot. Renny later says in DR that she thinks it’s an asset for a man to show his emotions.

Ollie and Dan discuss the nominations. Ollie reveals he wants to nominate Memphis, and Dan is prepared to hear this. He holds a meeting with Keesha and talks about making their alliance of four official. Keesha hears his plan to use Memphis as a pawn and agrees not to vote for him, but says that she doesn’t think Renny would agree to do the same. Renny comes in the room and upon hearing Memphis’ name, she says, “That snake will cut your throat, I don’t trust him, you’ll see.” Dan talks about making their alliance of three official, and I crack up. He doesn’t miss a beat. Renny says she likes this three-person alliance.

Memphis, on the other hand, is not interested in being put up on the block. Remember when he went AWF on Jerry for calling him lazy and a womanizer, with a level of anger completely disproportionate to the situation? Well, you could see that crazy creeping up behind his eyes as he tells Dan not to nominate him. At this point I’m thinking about his deal with Ollie again and I’m leaning further toward dumb on the dumb-genius scale.

At the nomination ceremony Dan tells the house that when he won HoH he made a crazy deal up there, twelve feet in the air, and he intends to honour that deal. He starts by pulling Ollie’s key and the rest follow as we expect. Dan tells Memphis that he, like most people in the house, aren’t sure where Memphis stands. Some may see him as a vagabond, Dan might say he’s a renegade, cough-cough-thats-the-name-of-our-alliance-cough-cough-cough. Dan tells Jerry he’s not on the block because of the Judas thing, which is now behind them. Memphis refuses to shake Dan’s hand after the noms. I am expecting to tune in on Tuesday to see Memphis have a meltdown of mixologist proportion.

I read on the feeds that Memphis was faking a lot of the pissiness at the nomination ceremony — that he and Dan decided to play it up. Interesting to see if it’s addressed on Tuesday’s show, if it’s true .

I still can’t decide if Dan is genius or fool, either. I guess we’ll see after everything shakes down. If Jerry ends up going, is anyone going to give a rat’s ass?

Also, I loved the scene of Dan aggravating Renny. “Dan, go suck an egg,” cracked me up!

Maggie, we are speaking each other’s unspoken language this week! I thought the TAKEN shirt was cute and that Memphis was maybe protesting a bit too much. I also think that Dan is leaning closer to dumb than foxy on his HOH deal. When he said that he was trying to appear weak (which is getting OLDE) I thought well maybe and then I thought but if no one knows about his deal, how does Ollie look like the guilty one? He should have just made a deal that Ollie wouldn’t put him up and let him have it. Oy.

I think Dans plan is great … that is if he can pull it off….. I like him more with each show. As he says, its something no one has ever done before, it gives Ollie and Michelle a false sense of security, makes Dan appear to honor Ollies deal, and as a bonus no one will suspect an alliance between Memphis and Dan. Plus, Dan can deflect any blame that happens as a result. The only backlash to this plan of acting dumb could come at the end, if he makes it to that point, and has to try and convince the jury that he wasn’t really as dumb as he acted. Thanks to Dan I am actually entertained this season.

I like him too, I just don’t understand how he is going to get anywhere after this week. It’s also hard to imagine that he is still trying to sell himself as such a weak player when he brought gloves and a raincoat to the last HOH and stayed up there for more than three hours! It will be really interesting to see what transpires this week, I can’t wait for Thursday.

I’m getting tired of the “I’m weak” thing, too. But it seems to be working.

If things go awry, though, Dan could be walking out that door Thursday night as part of the double-eviction. I’m really excited to see how things go.

I’m not too sure what Dan can really deflect. I mean, he is the one who chose to give Ollie the power, after all.

FG, if your little spoiler info is true, that’s awesome. It occurred to me that Memphis might be faking his anger, but I haven’t been reading the feeds so I have no idea how much he and Dan actually trust each other. I hope it gets addressed!

The double-eviction scares me! I do not want Dan to go. And Pammysue, I completely agree that this whole “I’m weak!” business is going to backfire if the jury thinks he rode coattails and got lucky.

    RE: HOH competition

It’s all fun and games until Jerry mentions his groin.
