Wonderful, Wonderful

What did you think of the season opener of Weeds?

I miss the old days of Agrestic. This whole Mexican gangster thing is disturbing. It would be one thing if I thought Nancy and the mayor were really in love, but it feels to me like they’re just goading each other into more and more extreme behavior. And the scene with Esteban at the doctor’s scared me; I was thinking they were going to force her to get an abortion. But I guess he wants a son. The Geekboy has already predicted Nancy will find out she’s having a girl, and we’ll have to watch her lie about that, too.

The Celia kidnapping storyline is ridonk, but I laughed my ass off as that guy made ransom call after ransom call and everyone said, “No, thanks!”

Still loving Andy. When he screamed at her, “YOU POISON EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH!” I cheered.

I enjoyed the episode mostly because it’s high time Nancy get her comeuppance for essentially ruining the lives of everyone around her since her husband died. It’s uncomfortable but also nice to see her completely out of sorts in a situation. She really has no idea about how crazy the world she’s playing in is.

I want to spend more time with Shane’s story. Even if he is a whole foot taller than he was last season.

I know! When he came onscreen, we were all, “Whoa, Shane is a man!”

Or, as he said, “I have an afro down there!”

Good call on Nancy having no idea how crazy the world she’s playing in is — the flash mob at the end illustrated that pretty well. She is sitting on the edge of something completely inexplicable and senseless, but it fills her with excitement and joy. Until she sees Cesar and completely sobers up.

Nancy is screwed! I’m so afraid for her. And laughed out loud so hard with the “you poison everything you touch” line. He’s amazing. That and when he called the mexican’s “gatos.”

Highly enjoyable, especially Andy, Doug, and Celia. The rest is interesting, but I like a healthy dose of schadenfreude-based comedy.
