United States of Tara
Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 08:35am by freakgirlUnited States of Tara premieres on Showtime on January 18th. We were able to preview the first four episodes, which was exciting for me, as I’ve been anticipating this show for a quite a while. Toni Collette is one of my favorite actresses, John Corbett is one of the most reassuring men on television, and Diablo Cody (who is also a producer) wrote the first few episodes. Yes, please!
I’m glad to report the show lived up to my expectations. The premise — Tara has Dissociative Identity Disorder and has gone off her meds under a therapist’s supervision — allows Toni to show off her acting chops, and the writing deals with mental illness in a warm and sympathetic manner. The humor is at times sweet and dark, just like our other favorite, Weeds.
Watch the first episode free online right now! Go here and type in “tara.”

I liked the first episode a lot. Toni Collette has always been a favorite of mine. Wish I could watch more. Will Showtime put more episodes online do you think?
