Nurse Jackie

Nurse Jackie on Showtime

Last night, I attended the premiere of Nurse Jackie, where they screened the first two episodes. Two thumbs up. If you like Weeds, you’ll enjoy this show. It’s dark and funny. Edie Falco’s Nurse Jackie is a great character — one of those people who does bad, bad things but you can’t help but root for her anyway. It’s the first time Showtime has shot a series in NYC, and the city (as well as the New York attitude) really shines through. Congratulations to Edie Falco and the rest of the cast and crew. Watch the first episode online right now.

“Reaper” Likely Cancelled

Tuesday, April 07, 2009 at 01:41pm by freakgirl

TV.com reports that the creators of Reaper just signed a development deal with another studio. Guessing that means it won’t be coming back next season. Ah, well. It was a fun little show, but not required viewing in our house. Thoughts?

Pushing Daisies Gone for Good?

Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at 03:39pm by freakgirl

There are still a few episodes of Pushing Daisies remaining, but ABC (as of now) is choosing not to air them, according to Ask Ausiello. Thanks, ABC! You suck!

United States of Tara

United States of Tara on Showtime

United States of Tara premieres on Showtime on January 18th. We were able to preview the first four episodes, which was exciting for me, as I’ve been anticipating this show for a quite a while. Toni Collette is one of my favorite actresses, John Corbett is one of the most reassuring men on television, and Diablo Cody (who is also a producer) wrote the first few episodes. Yes, please!

I’m glad to report the show lived up to my expectations. The premise — Tara has Dissociative Identity Disorder and has gone off her meds under a therapist’s supervision — allows Toni to show off her acting chops, and the writing deals with mental illness in a warm and sympathetic manner. The humor is at times sweet and dark, just like our other favorite, Weeds.

Watch the first episode free online right now! Go here and type in “tara.”
